Ministries and sub-ministries
Until recently, Cyprus had one to eleven ministers. Like the number of ministries, their number could only be increased after the island’s unification. Nevertheless, the number of ministerial portfolios has increased. This was made possible by the introduction of ‘sub-ministries.’ Some might perceive the sub-ministries as secondary or auxiliary, but they are full-fledged ministries with an allocated scope of tasks.
